It is with great pleasure that OAM/Metro Sports Medicine announces their multiyear sponsorship agreement with Michigan Fire Juniors Soccer club. As the exclusive medical providers for the Michigan Fire Juniors, OAM/Metro Sports Medicine offers the most comprehensive sports medicine program in West Michigan. OAM/Metro Sports Medicine will treat athletes at all levels of competition, as well as weekend warriors, student athletes and others focused on maintaining an active and healthy lifestyle. Services provided will include:
· Evaluation and treatment of sports injuries
· Diagnostic ultrasounds, digital X-rays, MRIs and other tests, including concussion testing
· Physical and massage therapy
· Nutrition counseling
· Application and removal of casts
· Orthopedic Surgery
· Gait analysis and orthotics
“We are very excited to be the exclusive sports medicine providers for the Michigan Fire Juniors Soccer club. We are as passionate about preventing and treating athletic injuries as the athletes and families of Michigan Fire are about soccer,” said Dr. Thomas Matelic, orthopedic surgeon. “We will do our best to keep these outstanding athletes healthy and active and participating at the highest level.”
The OAM/Metro Sports Medicine team includes six fellowship-trained, board-certified primary care sports medicine physicians, five fellowship-trained, board-certified orthopedic surgeons and physical therapists and athletic trainers, making it the largest practice of its kind in West Michigan – and one of the largest in the state. Services for everything from concussion testing, knee injuries and ACL tears to sprains, strains and broken bones will be available at six locations throughout West Michigan, including the new state-of-the-art OAM Metro Sports Medicine Center in the Spartan Stores YMCA in Wyoming. Athletes and non athletes alike can receive treatment for urgent orthopedic injuries at OAM Now as well as the Metro Health Emergency Department.
Dr. Edwin Kornoelje, a primary care sports medicine physician in the area for over 20 years comments, “As a soccer player myself I look forward to working with the Michigan Fire Junior’s athletes and their families Keeping kids healthy and active is very important, and our new partnership will go a long way to help keep these athletes on the field and participating in a sport they love."
